CEHCHV is working to help families locally obtain healthy, nutritious food.

Helping families achieve access to healthy, nutritious food is a fundamental goal for the CEHCHV program. We know that inadequate access to food is a critical child health issue that impacts children and families in all communities. Unfortunately, the number of families in our region who may have difficulty obtaining healthy food on a regular basis has hit a record high during the Coronavirus pandemic. Food insecurity, or limited ability to access food, places children at risk for malnutrition, obesity, inappropriate feeding practices, poor growth, behavioral issues and developmental delays.  At CEHCHV we have put together a Food Access Team of specialists to help families in our region. The clinical team consists of a community partner, Feeding Westchester, our community outreach director, Dr. Amy Ansehl, physician leadership under Dr. Amy Brown and esteemed members of the clinical faculty including, dietitian Diane Lindsay Adler and social worker Addison Forgit, who provide comprehensive counseling and community referrals for patients identified with difficulty accessing to food. In addition to consultative services, our website will also provide you with nutrition resources where you can find recipes and environmental nutrition resources.
